Snow, Snow, Go Away! February 11, 2012

So Bulgaria (and much of Europe) have made the news this week because of their massive ice and snow storms. Rivers freezing farther south than they have in 27 years, and snow up to rooftops. It’s prevented many from getting basic necessities and sadly has caused over 500 deaths.  Needless to say, thousands are unable to get to work in this time of crisis.  It’s been a quiet week on the adoption front because of weather delays preventing staff from getting to work.  I hear the kids at the orphanages think all this snow is great fun, though!

We’ve had a crazy week.  We made our first trip to the ER with our daughter, Nadia.  Maybe it was inevitable…accidents do happen sooner or later.  She did a twirl in the living room, lost her balance, and cracked her forehead open on the coffee table.  She ended up having 5 stitches and we finally left the hospital about midnight on Wednesday.  She was a trooper, and Marshall and I were probably more affected by the accident (emotionally) than she was.  She’s been smiles ever since.  Stitches come out on Monday…glad it wasn’t worse than it was.

I can’t help but think how our Bulgarian baby may not be getting that unconditional love and comfort when (s)he falls down and gets hurt, or is scared, or just needs someone to hold him/her.  I continue to pray for the caretaker watching over our child for now…I believe she is an amazing woman doing an incredible job with those children.

Most of all, I am so ready to know who our child is.  It’s getting kind of old saying “him or her” all the time.  We just want to know some specifics and call our child by name.  So ready for this process to get rolling for us!   We are anxious to make our first trip and give our baby a great big hug!  We’ll keep everyone posted when things are back in order in Bulgaria again.

    • Thank you, Diane – you all are a part of this adoption, and God is orchestrating it all. Really don’t think we could do it without the support of family & friends like you! Thank you for your prayers – it’s the most important thing anyone can do!
